Resume For Trainee Dental Nurse

CRUISE - JULY 1987 - PARIS / THE NORTH CAPE / PARIS - FIVE WEEKS IN CAMPERS

I will spare you a few tips that we put into practice. They are of another age. I have a few photos and memories ... a little vague though the picture is good support for reviving the memory!

Warning Cards routes here correspond to a portion of the journey, not a day!

is the great expedition. Germain has blocked everything its quota of leave for the trip. We're not yet on the Internet and the preparation of such a journey requires a huge research work upstream.

With our own camper, a Chausson Acapulco 33, which will be the longest journey, we cross the north-eastern France, win Liege, Aix-la-Chapelle, Cologne, Bremen, Hamburg and Lubeck in two days by the European motorways, without stops or emotional, except the first night with a German friend in Dusseldorf.

It Travemünde (Germany) as we embark tomorrow morning on the ferry Silja Line to Trelleborg (Sweden) Tonight no need to look where to sleep, already a few mobile homes are in the queue and take thereafter.

Around 6 o'clock we woke up. Knock-knock! The eyes clouded with sleep, disheveled wig, still in pajamas we open. Before us and behind queue is empty, she becomes impatient. The board has already begun! Journey time 9 hours.

We cross Sweden just as quickly from west to east for a new crossing Stockholm-Turku in 10 h 30 in sailing in the archipelago of Aland (one stop in Mariehamn) sauna and swimming pool on the ferry we'll pass the time pleasantly .

Stockholm

Turku

A = Turku - Tampere = B - C = Kuopio - D = Kajaani

FINLAND

We touch the Finnish soil softened by both unexplained high fever. I successfully used my board as the homeopathic pharmacy next day everything is back to normal for a tour of the city of Turku. Phew!

I do not dwell on the passage of Finland, wonderful, that it alone deserves an article. Otherwise in a few pictures.

Kuopio

the Thousand Lakes, and soon Vuokatti where we cross-country skiing for several years. The owner of the motel where we descend the winter we can park at the edge of lake adjoining his property and even lent us a boat to go fishing. Mosquitoes are so greedy that we persist in our efforts to catch fish for dinner.

Kajaani and its beautiful wooden church painted

Kajaani = A - B = Sodankyla - C = Ivalo (Lake Inari)

We cross the Arctic Circle (up to Rovaniemi on the map here)

the flat Lapland Kaunispää

A Saame in ceremonial dress at Karhunpesäkivi

The routes are often bad, not always paved and when they are, many reindeer the clutter to find traces of salt lick after winter.

NORWAY

Ivalo = A - B = Karasjok - C = Kåfjord

We enter Karasjok in Norway. The route is direct Kåfjord.

But we are not alone and every ferry (1 hour) carries only 20 vehicles.

is surrounded by reindeer we spend the rest of today and succeed, oh joy, to board the last ferry. It is 22 pm when we reach the island by Mageroya port Honningsvag in a fog to cut with a knife and we spend the night on the harbor. In the land of the midnight sun, we see no drop!

In 2011 and for several years, a tunnel can reach the island, connecting Kåfjord Honningsvag and for those arriving by air, buses regularly make the trip to North Cape.

Nordkapp

Contrary to popular belief, this is not the northernmost point of our continent, but the more symbolic because of its majestic character. The polar day lasts two and a half months each summer. This is the Midnight Sun that we have come to see this July 14, as a kind of fireworks from our trip. We will
for us! The fog has not lifted the next day and we will have to buy a few slides to record our arrival.

As it must be nice!
Snow and fog are always present at the raid ...

Honningsvag up ... just out of cotton wool.

Kåfjord = A - B = Hammerfest - C = Kautokeino

We are bound by time, so no question of staying there until it rises.
It's time to turn around with a little digression to Hammerfest that reveals little interest.

.
We stop to see then in Kautokeino Sami settlements all along the route and purchase a beautiful reindeer skin.

Kautokeino = A - B = Tornio

We go back again in Finland along the border with Sweden to Tornio.

Tornio

SWEDEN

Tornio A = - B = Arvidsjaur - Östersund C =

Stofosen and its impressive rapids

Arvidsjaur. Our camp at the Lake. It is midnight.

Church on the island of Frösö in Östersund, where we spend
part of the day in an indoor water center.

Ostersund = A - B = Gothenburg

Tomteland. Near Mora (which takes place every year Vasaloppet)
is where Santa Claus prepares his round of 25 December.
Virginia submits its letter ...

And we here in Gothenburg, ready to ship as scheduled on the Stena Line ferry bound for Frederikshavn in Denmark (3 hours crossing)

DENMARK

Frederikshavn = A - B = Arhus - C = Billund

We spent a day with our German friends from Düsseldorf on vacation in Denmark before the visit that looks ... Virginia

A little bit of deja vu is not it?

Not at all! We are at the center of Denmark, Billund in the LEGOLAND theme park.

Back in France by the same route. It's time to go back to work!
